Be honest
March 17, 2023

Back in the day (a.k.a. when dinosaurs roamed and MTV actually played music videos), if a woman’s slip peeked out from under her dress, someone would whisper, “Your slip is showing.” It was a gentle, discreet way of saying, fix it before you embarrass yourself. Fast-forward to now, and I’ve updated the phrase for modern times: “Your ignorance is showing.”
Lately, people have been hitting me with politically loaded questions. I always warn them—careful what you ask, because I deal in facts, not memes your uncle shared on Facebook. If I don’t know, I’ll say so, but usually, I’ve done the homework. And yet… some folks insist on spouting lines like: “Most homeless people are drug addicts” or “Women on welfare just keep having babies for more benefits.” According to them, the percentages are basically 98%… give or take a delusion.
So, I hit them with data, and their comeback is always, “Well, what about under Biden?” Ah yes, the magic phrase—apparently Joe Biden is responsible for every single problem on Earth. Inflation? Biden. Hurricanes? Biden. Your WiFi’s slow? Definitely Biden.
Here’s my counter-question: Can you actually show me facts? Not vibes, not Facebook forwards—facts. And while you’re at it, show me the same stats from the last ten presidents so we can see just how badly Uncle Joe ruined the otherwise perfect world we had. Spoiler alert: the math never works out.
Here’s the wild thought: if you actually want problems solved, maybe try using facts and working with people who disagree with you (I know, shocking). That’s how laws get changed and solutions get built. Otherwise, well… your ignorance is showing.
