One of my favorite places to shop has always been flea markets. The reason is that, in the past, they were the quintessential ways to purchase items which have a personal intrinsic value or which are basically upcycled used items into decor for home or garden.

The persons selling at flea markets would be those who are downsizing the contents of their own home, those who purchase items at estate sales and others who’s business model is basically collecting items from homeowners who may have otherwise dumped items in the trash.

Flea markets were riddled with items from your own childhood or that of your grandparents era. They were cool finds that, when purchased, became an item which instead of being discarded into the trash heap of time was revived and given new life and appreciation in your own home. While the ravages of time cannot truly guarantee that the item will function in the way it was originally intended, it still survives.
