One of my favorite things to do when I have the time is to sit in a neighborhood coffee shop alone and write these blogs while listening to everything going on around me. I hear some fantastic conversations between the baristas and other patrons.

It has been quite a while since I have had the opportunity to do this and it only worked out as the snow that appeared overnight all but disappeared in FDR Park by the time I got there after my acupuncture appointment today. I was hoping to go out and get lots of cool photos in the park and around the city but this über light snow did not stand a chance of staying around.

Anyhow, there is nothing like a local coffee shop in the world. Unlike Starbucks, La Colombe and others these places have a personality vibe you cannot replicate on the national level. The national chains have coffee with a bland personality. It is like sitting talking with the HR department at work. Devoid of feeling and cold.

When you come to a small coffeeshop like this, if you sit in the window, you can not only interact with the other patrons but you can also observe what is going on outside as well. Right now I am sitting at the corner of 6th and Christian and observing so much life going on everywhere.

There is a super friendly pit bull sitting right behind me on the floor, I just watched someone on the sidewalk outside walking by in furry crocs, someone cruising by on a bicycle and so much more.
