It is a struggle but I do try very hard to not write about politics within the bounds of this blog. As everyone does, I do have opinions on subjects which are part of the colors of the political spectrum which can cause negativity to abound and this is something that I do not want for this site.

I did decide to write on the subject of voting as this is not a partisan issue arguing for any political party but instead a building block of how our Constitutional republic was set up to influence the dictates on what freedoms we are allowed.

Each election IS important, even if we are blind to how it may directly affect us at the time we are voting. Our founding fathers set up a checks and balances system which gives equal power between three areas of our government on the federal level which did carry over to the individual state Constitutions as well. These branches of government hold equal sway over what freedoms we are granted and how we can live our lives within the confines of our country. In addition there is a fourth branch of balance built into the Constitution of the United States of America. That is voting. We the people collectively and directly influence how the other three areas of balance have a profound impact on our lives down to the smallest bolt holding the engine of our lives in place.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes

Every day I hear people complain about a governing body of some type, all of whom are elected officials. In my municipality over 57 percent of the registered voters DID NOT VOTE. I am sure the percentage of eligible voters is much higher. Many of these people are ones who complain about how life is not fair, taxes, problems in schools or one of the many other complaints I listen to.

Their lack of voting is actually causing the issues they have in their life.
