I was feeling a little peckish after my acupuncture appointment so I was looking for somewhere not too crowded.
My first choice was packed (middle child) so I was strolling further up 11th street when I came upon Strangelove’s.
I stepped in and found a place at the end of the bar. Maya (hope I spelled it correctly) asked what I wanted to eat and I gave four choices of what I was looking at. She chose one of the two brunch specials I mentioned for me as she said the regular menu items I could get anytime.
What she chose for me was the huevos rancheros. This was a unique interpretation of this dish as instead of the traditional base of beans it was a base of nachos. A little strange but I loved it (get it?). While this was basically nachos with an egg it was light and refreshing and did not sit like lead in my stomach for hours after eating.
The crema they used was just right, being not too spicy nor not to mild. There was also just enough “whiz” on it so it wasn’t swimming in it like most places do.
All in all between the food and the staff, I plan to return to try more items off their menu.
